Welcome to another exciting year of Junior Golf at Kemper Lakes Golf Club!
The staff at Kemper Lakes is very exited about Junior Golf. Through incorporating the PGA Junior Golf League as a model for our instructional programming, it is our mission to make Kemper Lake's Junior Program the most fun and exciting program in the North Suburbs.
PGA Junior League Instructional Programs
PGA Jr. League is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends.
Each team is captained by a PGA or LPGA Professional, who serves as the coach and is at the forefront of creating a welcoming environment for all to enjoy the game. PGA Jr. League utilizes a popular scramble format that creates a nurturing environment for learning and development – both on and off course.
With 42,000 participants in 2017 – and Ambassadors including Rory McIlroy, Michelle Wie, Rickie Fowler and Lexi Thompson – PGA Jr. League has wide-ranging appeal for both youth and their parents.
Mission, Vision and Values
PGA Jr. League is the key youth initiative of PGA REACH, the charitable arm of the PGA of America. As such, the program focuses on fun, recreation, good health and sportsmanship. PGA Jr. League is recreational and developmental in nature and works with PGA Sections and local youth organizations across the country to offer an alternative, social golf format. This unique approach highlights team play versus individual competition and serves as a feeder system to transition youth golfers to existing junior golf programs.
PGA Jr. League began in 2011, with teams competing in Atlanta, Tampa, Dallas, and San Diego. The inaugural PGA Jr. League Golf "World Series" was held in September of the same year at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga., which was captured by the Atlanta team.
The first-ever PGA Jr. League Golf National Championship was held in 2012 at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club among six Regional Champions. It was captured by Team California.
Since its inception, participation in PGA Jr. League has skyrocketed, with 42,000 youth participants competing on 3,400 teams in 2017.
Due the success of this program, the Kemper Lakes Professional Staff has decided to use the PGA Junior League as a model for our instructional programs. Under this umbrella, we will introduce fundamentals of the game, while maintaining an enjoyable and fun group atmosphere.
